We recently conducted training on Physiology of Circulatory for Junior and High School Teachers on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Lead speaker was Dra. Asiah Soesy Soesilawaty, M.Sc.
Participants who attended the workshop came from several schools in WEST JAVA province. They were teachers from SMAN 1 Cilaku - Cianjur, Cirebon SMAN 9, IAIN Sheikh Nurjati Cirebon, SMPN1 Kandanghaur - Indramayu, Polytechnic TEDC Bandung. There was also participant from DKI JAKARTA (SMAK IPEKA Puri Indah).
Dra. Asiah explained the circulatory system in humans and animals. She also explained the parts of heart, cardiac conduction system, a graphical electrocardiogram (ECG), cardiac cycle (systole and diastole), cardiac conduction disturbances and blood pressure. Participants were invited to discuss in terms of physiology learning explanation in school.
In addition to theories, participants were also invited to perform lab equipment practices, such as:
- Using sphygmomanometer as well as how to use readings
- Practice of digital blood pressure meter usage
- ECG sensor using computer-based experiments system tools
- Measuring the amount of red and white blood cells using a haemocytometer
- Observing blood vessels in small fish (Lebistes) and tadpole under a microscope
All participants were enthusiastic in this workshop because they were able to directly use the lab equipment so they can be apply circulatory physiology experiments in their schools. |
